Bulgaria to pull out troops from Iraq after Karbala attacks: daily
IRNA
Berlin, Dec 29, IRNA -- Bulgaria is to withdraw its troops from Iraq following the recent attacks in the city of Karbala which killed five Bulgarian soldiers, the daily Die Welt newspaper reported Monday. It cited the Bulgarian Defense Ministry as saying that the whole troop contingent would be evacuated out of Iraq since its main military base had been completely devastated during the Karbala underground attacks. The assailants used suicide car bombs, mortar fire and automatic weapons against two coalition bases, killing 19 people and wounding more than 100. A hardline supporter of the US invasion of Iraq, Bulgaria has deployed around 480 soldiers in the war-stricken country. OT/212 End
