FM stresses need for speedy transfer of power to Iraqi nation

IRNA

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi here Monday
stressed that Saddam Hussein capture has provided a better
ground for occupying forces to leave Iraq and speedily transfer the
right of self-determination to the Iraqi nation.
He made the remark in his speech at the International
Conference on `Islamic World, Challenges and Opportunities`, in
which he underlined the necessity of trying the former dictator of
Iraq for his tyranny, unlawfulness and crimes against the nations of
Iraq, Iran and Kuwait.
He also stressed the right of Palestinian nation to retrieve
their rights specially the right of the displaced Palestinians
to return to their native land.
Believing that scientific achievements and technology were the
shared asset of the human kind, he said all nations had equal
rights to use them.
He further noted that avoiding monopoly and removing
the big gap between the advanced world and the less developed
countries could serve as a new model in the international system.
To this end, he added, Iran pursued using nuclear technology for
peaceful purposes as a basic principle to enhance the scientific
power of the Islamic states.
Kharrazi also referred to co-existence and positive and
constructive interactions in cultural, scientific and technological
areas between Muslim states and the west to eradicate the real
rootcauses of violence and terrorism under the supervision of the
United Nations as a probable necessity.
According to the foreign minister, such fundamental steps towards
materializing constructive and positive interaction would be well
taken by heeding to the most urgent demands of the Islamic world
and trying to change the colonial viewpoints.
He also cited respecting values, beliefs and the rightful
demands of Muslim nations, avoidance from imposing Western values and
manners on Islamic communities and trying to compensate for the
damages inflicted on the Islamic World by the brutal raids
of colonialism as among other steps in this regard.
