EU calls on Iraq`s neighbors to help in reconstruction process

Brussels, Nov 17, IRNA -- EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels 
Monday called for more meetings of Iraq`s neighbors to help the 
reconstruction process of that country. 
"Following the meeting of neighboring countries` foreign ministers
in Damascus, the Council looks forward to further meetings of the 
neighbors in consultation with the Iraqi Governing Council and Iraq 
institutions, to help support the political and economic 
reconstruction process underway in Iraq," said the ministers in a 
statement. 
The ministers noted with satisfaction the announcement by the 
Governing Council on November 15 of the timetable for the transfer of 
sovereignty to a transitional Iraqi government. 
They stressed the importance of a timing adapted to the situation.
The ministers reiterated the EU`s resolve to contribute to the 
political as well as economic reconstruction of Iraq.
