Beirut, Nov 4, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Syria, Iran and Kuwait have decided to sign `agreements for ensuring security on their borders with Iraq for the purpose of stopping illegal infiltration of militants`, the Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat wrote on Tuesday with reference to reliable sources in the Provisional Governing Council of Iraq. According to the newspaper, the agreements will provide for the exchanges of intelligence data, joint control over the frontier line with the use of modern equipment and the improvement of customs and border control on the whole of the border. Leaders of the Provisional Governing Council and Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, leader of the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution of Iraq, discussed a possibility of signing the agreements during their visits to Damascus, Tehran and Kuwait in October this year, Al-Sharq al-Awsat wrote. A special operation for blocking 55 smuggler routes on the Syrian-Lebanese border was staged on Monday. According to official sources in Beirut, the operation was staged at the request of Damascus after Washington accused Syria of allowing the infiltration of foreign militants to Iraq from Syria and Lebanon. /AH/210 End
