UK in talks with US on Iraq reconstruction contracts
IRNA
London, Nov 1, IRNA -- Foreign Office Minister Mike O`Brien is leading a British trade mission to the US on Sunday to discuss UK business involvement in Iraq`s reconstruction projects. Speaking before leaving London, O`Brien, who is responsible for trade promotion, said his visit was `in support of UK companies bidding for sub-contracts with US main contractors`. "UK companies have much to offer the Iraqi people in helping them to rebuild their country, with much relevant experience and expertise," he said. The Foreign Office said that the minister would be meeting key figures from the various US administration bodies involved in Iraq`s reconstruction projects, including the US Army Corps of Engineers; US Department of Commerce; and US Agency for International Development. O`Brien insisted that many UK companies have been `tendering and winning contracts that enable them to help in rebuilding their country despite the difficult situation in the country`. HC/AH/210 End
