Germany to send elite commandos to Iraq to protect aid workers
IRNA
Berlin, Nov 1, IRNA -- Germany will send its elite anti-terror GSG-9 commandos to Iraq in an effort to protect German aid workers in Iraq following the latest series of deadly attacks against international relief organizations in the war-stricken country, DPA quoted an Interior Ministry spokeswoman as saying Saturday. According to the German official, "specially qualified Federal Border Guard officers" will be deployed in Iraq to ensure the safety of four German relief workers who have been in charge of restoring an Iraqi water purification plant since September. Berlin voiced "great concern" this week over the worsening security situation in Iraq. OT/210 End
