- Iraq: Authorities Treading Fine Line In Action Against Al-Arabiyah RFE/RL 25 Nov 2003 -- The U.S.-appointed interim government in Iraq has temporarily banned an Arabic-language television station from operating in the country for airing an audiotape purportedly from former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. On the tape, the speaker calls for attacks against coalition forces in Iraq. The ban was supported by the U.S., but has been criticized by media groups for violating rights to freedom of expression.
