EU not to close humanitarian office in Baghdad
IRNA
Brussels, Oct 31, IRNA -- The European Union Friday said it will not close its humanitarian office, ECHO, in Baghdad. ``The ECHO office in Baghdad is still open. There is no plan at this stage to shut it or talk of any measures in that direction,`` European Commission spokesman for external relations Deigo de Ojeda told a press briefing in Brussels Friday. "Obviously we keep the situation under review regularly given the security situation," he said. The spokesman added that the staff at ECHO continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Iraqi citizens with its NGO partners. NK/214 End
