Germany hopes for "early return" of UN aid workers to Iraq
IRNA
Berlin, Oct 31, IRNA -- The German government Friday voiced hope for the "early return" of foreign UN aid workers to Iraq, after all non-Iraqi UN staff members were withdrawn from the war-stricken country as a result of the recent devastating suicide attack on the International Red Cross headquarters in Baghdad. "We have of course sympathy (for the UN`s decision) which was made out of concern for the UN workers well-being and we hope that the circumstances enable an early return for them," German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Antje Leendertse said during a news conference. The UN announced Thursday that it had started pulling out all non-Iraqi UN workers from Baghdad on a "temporary basis". OT/214 End
