Belgium will not send troops to Iraq
IRNA
Brussels, Oct 27, IRNA -- Belgium has ruled out sending troops to Iraq. Belgian Defence Minister Andre Flahaut said the latest UN resolution does not give the United Nations sufficient control over peacekeeping in the area, local radio RVI reported today. However, he did confirm that Belgium plans to send more troops to Afghanistan to join a German-led peacekeeping mission in Kunduz. Belgium has pledged to contribute 5 million euros to help rebuild Iraq at an international donors` meeting in Madrid. The money will be allocated through the United Nations to aid Iraq`s education system and the country`s electricity and transportation infrastructure. NK/210 End
