SNSC stresses withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq

Tehran, Oct 22, IRNA -- Secretary of the Supreme National Security 
Council (SNSC) Hassan Rowhani here on Wednesday termed the withdrawal 
of foreign powers from Iraq as an unavoidable necessity. 
In a meeting with visiting Secretary of the Polish Supreme 
National Security Council Mark Schwitz, Rowhani said Iran and Poland 
have always enjoyed good and friendship ties. 
Pointing to current economic and infrastructure problems in Iraq, 
he said Iran is ready to help Iraq with its immediate needs including 
electricity. 
The SNSC secretary called for participation of private sector of 
Iran and Poland in the reconstruction of Iraq and said the two 
countries have very good potentials to promote bilateral ties, upgrade
current trend of Iraq`s reconstruction efforts and expand regional 
cooperation between Iran and Europe. 
He noted that the two countries` joint effort to fight terrorism 
is among important bilateral, regional and international cooperation 
and stressed special effort of Polish forces in fighting the terrorist
Mujahedeen Khalq group. 
Schwitz, for his part, said that cooperation between the two 
countries` national security councils created a suitable opportunity 
for consultations on key issues. 
He added that cooperation between Iran and Poland play a special 
role in establishment of stability and security in Iraq as well as in 
the country`s reconstruction. 
The Polish official welcomed Iran`s decision on its nuclear policy
and said Tehran`s declaration was a very important factor in expansion
of relations between Iran and Europe. 
He praised Iran`s role in restoration of stability and security in
Iraq and said religious, historical and cultural bonds between Iraq 
and Iran can play a decisive role in settlement of the Iraqi crisis. 
He termed existence of foreign powers in Iraq within international
framework as necessary and called for an official mechanism to 
facilitate exchange of views between Iran and Poland on Iraq.
