IRNA
Putrajaya, Malaysia, Oct 12, IRNA -- Iraqi Governing Council voiced objection to a Turkish decision to send troops to Iraq demanded by the United States. Head of Iraqi delegation, Riyad al-Fadhli, told reporters upon his arrival that Iraq voices objection to have any peacekeeping troops from neighboring countries. The Iraqi governing council is worried that Turkey will pursue its own agenda in Iraq causing unrest in the Kurdish area, al-Fadhli said. Tahsin Burcuoglu, Turkish delegate to the expert meeting said that Turkish troops would not be there as part of the occupation. Head of Kurdestan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani already opposed such a deployment saying that Turkey may escalate tension in Iraqi Kurdish populated area.
