OIC accepts Iraq Governing Council to take seat
IRNA
Putrajaya, Malaysia, Oct 12, IRNA -- The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) accepted the delegation from Iraq Governing Council (IGC) to attend the summit to accelerate Iraqi independence. "The OIC accepted the IGC to take Iraq`s seat to help the Iraqi people establish national sovereignty and get rid of occupation as quickly as possible," a diplomat attending the expert meeting told IRNA. "The acceptance should not be regarded as an approval for the Iraqi occupation. Instead, it is a step from the Islamic nations to help the Iraqi people to form national government through democratic election," he said. OIC Secretary General Abdelouahed Belkeziz said in his address to the expert meeting on Saturday that the United Nations should take over the administration of Iraqi affairs in accordance with a clear and short timetable. "Islamic nations should commit themselves to the eviction of foreign forces from Iraq, allowing the United Nations to administer Iraqi affairs, prelude to the restoration of Iraq`s independence and to the rebuilding of what has been destroyed over the past 20 years, all in accordance with a clear and short timetable," he said. The Iraqi delegation is represented by Riyad al-Fadhi. SS/SS End
