Iraq could become center for Islamist terror: German secret service
IRNA
Berlin, Sept 24, IRNA -- The head of Germany`s foreign intelligence service BND warned that Iraq could become a safe haven for Islamist terrorists, the website of the weekly Spiegel magazine reported Wednesday. "That is the concern I have which is that Iraq could develop into a center for Islamist extremism," BND President August Hanning said in Berlin. "We are experiencing now that Iraq has become the crystallization point of Jihad," Hanning added. Hanning compared the situation of post-war Iraq to Afghanistan of the 1980s during which Islamist terror groups gained foothold in the war-stricken country. OT/216 End
