Judiciary chief blames US for failing to guarantee least security in Iraq
IRNA
Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA -- Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said here Monday that the US troops, who invaded Iraq five months ago, have failed to guarantee the least security in the war shattered country. Addressing high ranking judicial officials, he also expressed condolences on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer al-Hakim, head of the Supreme Assembly of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq. How can those who are unable to maintain security in a society, claim they would restore democracy to Iraq? Shahroudi asked, adding that the question is they are either unable to provide security in the country or seek their interests in an insecure and chaotic situation. The incident has plunged Shiite theological schools, Iraqi nation and Muslim world into grief, he said adding that the global arrogance and violators of nations` rights are afraid of the strong faith of Islamic nations and their committed wise religious scholars. Both Zionists and global arrogance were concerned about the presence of Ayatollah Hakim in Iraq, he underlined. As the martyrdom of Iranian religious scholars have guaranteed the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the blood of martyr Hakim will serve to consolidate bonds among the Iraqi people and would lead them towards independence, freedom and Islamic teachings, he said. The martyrdom of Ayatollah Hakim will be a source of blessing for the Iraqi nation, Shahroudi concluded. MM/212 End
