Parliament voices grief at Ayatollah Hakim`s loss

Tehran, August 31, IRNA -- Some 170 members of parliament on Sunday expressed grief at loss of Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SAIRI) Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer Hakim in terrorist attack in the holy city of Najaf. "The late Ayatollah Hakim was a great hope for the Iraqi people to help them restore peace and security in their country. But, they lost their guide in the bloody Friday of Najaf," said part of the statement read out in the formal session of the parliament on Sunday afternoon. "The bitter and sorrowful loss of Ayatollah Hakim will urge the Iraqi people to stand up to establish a democratic and national government in Iraq and pave the way for withdrawal of the occupying forces," the statement said. The MPs said that an immediate withdrawal of the occupying forces from Iraq will help ease the tense living situation in the country. 215/215 End
