Iranian, Iraqi provinces ink agreement on trade cooperation

Semnan, Aug 31, IRNA -- Head of Semnan province Chamber of Commerce 
Ali-Asqar Jom`eie and his counterpart from Iraq`s Babylon province, 
Abdol-Hadi Najm Abud al-Assadi in a meeting here on Sunday, inked an 
agreement on mutual economic and trade cooperation. 
Abud al-Assadi and a number of members of Babylon Chamber of 
Commerce based in the provincial capital city of Hillah are visiting 
Semnan province along with some Iraqi tradesmen for talks on matters 
of mutual interest. 
According to the agreement, both sides have agreed to exchange 
list of their businessmen and their required goods to bolster 
economic relations between the two provinces. 
Speaking at the meeting, Jom`eie declared the readiness of 
Semnan province to broaden joint economic cooperation. 
Turning to hundreds of provincial industrial production units, 
he reiterated that Given that Semnan province enjoys high economic 
potentials, it can meet requirements of Babylon province and even 
Iraq. 
He added that Semnan is known for its nationwide reputation in 
production of vehicle and motorcycle spare parts. 
Referring to the recent meeting between heads of Iran and Iraq 
Chambers of Commerce in Kermanshah, he noted that the elections 
for establishment of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce will soon 
be held. 
For his part head of Babylon province Chamber of Commerce, 
underlined the need for bolstering of economic cooperation between 
Iranian and Iraqi tradesmen. 
Pointing to the geographical position of the Iraqi province, he 
said that Iraqi market is almost full of Iranian products. 
He also declared the upcoming exhibition of Iranian goods due to 
be held in Sulaimaniya province in early fall and called on Semnani 
tradesmen to participate in the event. 
During its visit to Semnan province, the 12-member economic 
delegation from Iraq`s Babylon province toured a provincial fair on 
local industrial and general products and were introduced to the 
province`s high industrial potential.
