Germany strongly condemns the Najaf bombing
IRNA
Berlin, Aug 30, IRNA -- The German government strongly condemned the car bomb blast which killed Iraqi Shia leader Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Hakim and at least 125 others in the holy Shia city of Najaf, DPA reported Saturday. "Those responsible (for the attack) have to be identified and harshly punished," German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said Friday in Berlin. The German government was dismayed and horrified after hearing of the car bombing "which took the lives of many innocent people, among them the leading Shia cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Hakim," Fischer added. Ayatollah Hakim was martyred in a car bomb explosion as he was returning from the Najaf Friday prayers which he himself had led. OT/210 End
