INTRO: A powerful car bomb exploded outside the Jordanian Embassy in Baghdad Thursday, killing at least seven people and injuring dozens. V-O-A's Dale Gavlak visited the scene in Baghdad and filed this report.

TEXT: Charred frames that were once cars and bits of broken glass and human remains litter the grounds outside the Jordanian Embassy in Baghdad. Buildings as far as 70 meters away suffered significant damage.

///ACT OF CROWD///

Shocked local residents gathered to try to figure out what had happened.

The U-S military cordoned off the area with armored vehicles. The U-S commander on the scene says it is not clear whether it was a suicide bombing and whether the bomb was detonated inside one of the destroyed cars.

But the officer, Lieutenant Colonel Eric Nantz, says one thing is clear.

///NANTZ ACT///

It was a lot of Iraqis that were killed, not Jordanians.

///END ACT///

Lieutenant Colonel Nantz says an investigation has been launched to determine exactly what happened, and who did it and why. (Signed)
