British Prime Minister Tony Blair says he did not authorize the release of a weapon inspector's name to the media, days before the man's apparent suicide.
Mr. Blair told reporters on a flight to Hong Kong Tuesday that he had nothing to do with the leak of David Kelly's name.
Mr. Kelly was found dead last week, shortly after it was revealed that he was the main source of a controversial story that said Britain exaggerated Iraq's pre-war weapons capability.
Monday, Mr. Blair expressed sorrow over Mr. Kelly's death and said a proper investigation into the matter would take place.
Meanwhile, Mr. Blair told Chinese university students that he still believes going to war with Iraq was the right decision. He said he has no doubts that Iraq was trying to develop weapons of mass destruction, and that he is confident evidence of such weapons will be found.
The British leader is facing calls to resign following Mr. Kelly's death.
