Bush: No Return to Tyranny in Iraq

President Bush says there will be no return to tyranny in Iraq.

Mr. Bush says the almost daily attacks on U.S.-led troops in Iraq are being carried out by Saddam Hussein loyalists. He says they believe they have found a way to harm America by attacking coalition troops and intimidating Iraqi citizens.

But Mr. Bush says those who threaten the order and stability of Iraq will face ruin, just like Saddam Hussein's regime.

Earlier Monday, U.S. administrator for Iraq Paul Bremer said the recent attacks are worrisome, but will not stop the coalition from establishing freedom and democracy in Iraq.

Meanwhile, thousands of Iraqi mourners chanting anti-American slogans have buried victims of an overnight explosion at a mosque west of Baghdad.

Iraqi witnesses in the town of Fallujah say at least five people were killed in the blast, which they blame on a U.S. missile or a bomb. U.S. military officials have flatly denied the accusation and say the blast came from explosives hidden in the mosque compound.

Elsewhere in the region, Iraqi officials say the head of Saddam Hussein's tribe, has been assassinated. Abdullah Mahmoud al-Khattab, who recently renounced Saddam, was gunned down Sunday in Tikrit.

In another development, the Pentagon says six U.S. soldiers have been wounded in two separate attacks in and near Baghdad.
