DETAINEES ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE FROM COALITION FORCES
BAGHDAD -- During an attempted detainment facility escape Friday, one detainee was killed and seven were wounded. Two of the wounded detainees are in critical condition. All of the wounded detainees were medically evacuated to a military combat support hospital for treatment.
The detainees attempted to escape from the Abu Garhib prison complex. Coalition Military Police guards fired several shots in self-defense and efforts to quell the escape attempt.
Detainees throwing rocks and brandishing shanks rushed the Guards. One guard received minor injuries.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
