CAMP DOHA, Kuwait -- Two soldiers were wounded by two assailants with pistols while guarding a bank in Central Baghdad Thursday morning.

The soldiers returned fire, killing one assailant. The other assailant escaped. The reason for the attack is unknown.

The injured soldiers were evacuated by vehicle to a local military medical facility for treatment.

The names and unit of the soldiers are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
