DOHA, Kuwait -- Coalition Forces continue to aggressively patrol Iraq to eliminate
crimes against people and property, rid populated areas of weapons, ammunition
and explosives, and stop the black market trade in fuel and other commodities.
Coalition
Forces also continue to conduct joint security patrols with Iraqi police in
their efforts to increase the professionalism of the police force and prepare
them for their role in a self-governed Iraq.
Coalition Activity:
4thInfantry
Division soldiers conducted a cordon and search operation yesterday morning
near Bayji that resulted in the capture of two key area Fedayeen leaders.
Ten
former regime Special Security Organization agents and several former regime
senior military officers were also detained for questioning.
Soldiers from the First Brigade Combat Team, Fourth Infantry Division recently
conducted a raid near Tikrit for former regime members wanted by the coalition.
They
detained eight personnel for questioning.
101stAirborne
(Airborne Assault) Division soldiers raided the headquarters of SCIRI
(which is?) They
detained 18 Iraqis thought to be SCIRI or Wahabi leaders. Eleven have been
releases, and the rest detained for further questioning.
Soldiers
from the 3rdArmored
Cavalry Regiment, 4thInfantry
Division, raided the residence of an Iraqi yesterday morning of a man believed
to be the ringleader of a group responsible for attacks on Coalition convoys
on Highway 10.
He
and an Iraqi male were captured along with numerous weapons.
Both
are being detained for questioning.
2BCT
found a cache of weapons, explosives and communications equipment in the IIP/Radio
TV station in eastern Mosul (LF298212). The cache included the following: 1
x 14.5 AA gun, 40 x RPGs, 2 x AK-47, and 1 x AT system, 2 x explosive timers,
1 x mercury switch, 1 x explosive master switch, 8 x encryption units, 4 x
HF radios, 1 x VHF radio, 1 x digital HF radio, Russian radio pieces, batteries,
power systems, and loud speakers; found a cache of ammunition in a metal connex
west of Mosul (LF488252) containing 500 x 100mm rounds, 500 x 122mm rockets,
500 x 155mm artillery rounds, 500 x 81mm mortar rounds, and 50xRPG rounds;
12 mortar rounds were found near the CMOC (LF316286) , the area is secure and
EOD will destroy the rounds tomorrow.
Raids/Patrols
over the Last 24 HRS: 2 x raids, 48 x mounted, 232 x dismounted, and 49 joint
patrols.
3BCT conducted simultaneous raids of the SCIRI headquarters vic KF715298 and
the Islamic Party HQ vic KF723288 (will turn the SCIRI building over to Tall
Afar teachers who are the rightful owners), a soldier fired 2 rounds into a
civilian vehicle that failed to halt at an emplaced obstacle vic Tal Afar (KF714298
- The vehicle was disabled and the civilian was detained; no injuries reported),
established six TCPs vic Biaj, increased dismounted patrolling, and questioned
several local leaders about the recent RPG attacks.

Power Green) 1-10 CAV continues to screen the IRAQ-IRAN border monitoring 11
NAIs, conducted 2 RAAAAAIDDDDD!s
on suspected BADR Corps activities (1 on-going) detaining 13 personnel and
2 weapons; initial assessment is that the 13 members are from Iran.

of two subjects they had apprehended for looting vic. MB4791283998, zone 13.
The
subjects had minor injuries from their looting and the patrol performed basic
first aid for minor head lacerations and took the looters to the Al-Kerrada
Police Station for the 1 AD soldiers.

and Gamel entered the Al Dawarh police station to report a robbery.
Investigation

CO, revealed that on 221600DMAY03, four (4) subjects broke into Salim's store
and stole 999.5 grams of 24k gold and $2500.00. The four (4) suspects then
broke into Gamel's store and stole 315 grams of 21 Karat gold and $300.00.
One
suspect was identified as Amad Fakry Kalaf and the other 3 have not been identified.
Salim
and Gamel produced an arrest warrant for Kalaf signed by a judge.
The
victims left the station due to the lack of response from the Iraqi Police.
They
will return on 26 MAY 03.

Hamad.

Hassan
Hassim (M/17) stated that he had witnessed the incident. He stated that 2 x
men came out of an alley in close proximity of the victim and had 1 x World
War II rifle and 1 x AK-47 hidden behind their backs. They were wearing black
pants and blue shirts. They are between the ages of 21-25.
He
stated that the victim and the suspects had a brief conversation prior to the
suspects shooting him 7 x times. The body was brought to the hospital for an
autopsy. The uncle was instructed to go to the police station to complete the
report. Investigation continues by Iraqi police.

to report an incident regarding a man threatening his family with a grenade.

man with the grenade with negative results. At approximately 2230 hrs, PAAAATROLLLL!!
arrived
back at the Al Dawrah police station and received another report by the Iraqi
police that the man carrying the grenade passed the police station while they

made
contact with 82ndABN.
The man had been dropped off near 82nd

and had been injured. It is unknown how he received these injuries.
The
man was identified as Mohammed Laytaf. They had the man in custody and had
confiscated 1 x grenade and 1 x bayonet. He was transported to the Al Dawrah

the man's injuries. He possessed two bullet holes in the upper left shoulder,
one bullet hole in his left elbow, and a gash across his left eye that extended

brother double-crossed the gang at the bank and escaped with an undetermined
amount of American money.
They
left the money at their Uncle's house.
Since
the looting, the brother has been trading the American money for Iraqi Dinar.
Police
received the information of the looters from an informant and obtained a warrant
from a judge, the warrant is on file at the police station.
The
subject and Uncle are in custody by the IPF and they are currently investigating
the whereabouts of the brother.
The
subject is expected to see the same judge that issued the warrant in the next
few days.
The
IPF received the information and conducted the operation without the knowledge
or help of US Forces but brought all the money and weapons back to the station
where they knew US Forces would take custody.

Sifea Hisine came into the police station to report a burglary. Witnesses stated
that Shakaeb Hekmet broke into Hsain's house the night prior and stole gold

to Skakaeb Hekmets house.

apprehended him without incident and he was transported to the Al-Baya police
