COALITION FORCES CONTINUE TO FACE THREATS IN IRAQ

CAMP DOHA, Kuwait - One Coalition soldier was killed and several were injured during separate incidents that have taken place since yesterday morning.

A V Corps soldier was killed yesterday morning near Al Habbaniyah when the tank he was driving rolled off an embankment and into a river. The incident is under investigation.

A Coalition soldier was injured yesterday morning in northern Baghdad after stepping on buried unexploded ordnance, which detonated. The soldier was evacuated to a field hospital. The extent of the soldier's injuries is unknown at this time.

A High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle and two Land Rovers struck an unidentified explosive device near Al Qurnah yesterday. Ten Coalition soldiers were injured and evacuated to a field hospital.

An unidentified individual fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a Coalition tank in southwestern Baghdad early this morning. The RPG fell short and detonated in the ground. No Coalition soldiers were injured.

An assailant on a motorcycle fired several rounds from an AK-47 assault rifle at a Coalition communications facility near Samarrah early this morning. The motorcyclist escaped. No Coalition soldiers were injured.

A Coalition truck convoy came under small arms fire yesterday evening in the vicinity of As Samawah. The assailant or assailants did not press the attack and the convoy proceeded through the area without further incident. There were no injuries to personnel or damage to equipment.

A Coalition Explosive Ordnance Disposal soldier was injured when the fuse he was attempting to remove from an RPG detonated. He was evacuated to the 28th Combat Support Hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the dead and wounded soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
