The strike occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m., EST.

Foreign Reactions

  • IRAQ / SADDAM VOA 08 Mar 2003 -- Iraqi President Saddam Hussein demanded Saturday that the U-N Security Council remove sanctions imposed after Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, saying it was complying with U-N disarmament demands. The United States and some European countries have rejected Iraq's disarmament moves as insufficient and are threatening to use military force to gain Iraqi compliance.
  • RUSSIA/IRAQ VOA 08 Mar 2003 -- Russian officials have come out strongly against a proposal backed by the United States, Britain and Spain to set a March 17th deadline for Iraq to comply with U-N disarmament demands.
