- COALITION FORCES TARGET IRAQI COMMAND AND COMMUNICATION SITES 22 Feb 2003 -- In response to Iraqi threats to Coalition aircraft monitoring compliance of United Nations Security Council Resolutions, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to target six unmanned cable repeater sites that can be used for communications in targeting Coalition aircraft. The cable repeater sites were located between Al Kut, approximately 95 miles southeast of Baghdad, and Al Basrah, approximately 245 miles southeast of Baghdad. The strikes occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. EST.

- UN: Russia Affirms Objection To Second Resolution On Iraq RFE/L 22 Feb 2003 -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yurii Fedotov is quoted today as saying his country opposes any new UN resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq.
- MALAYSIA / N-A-M VOA 22 Feb 2003 -- Ministers from the world's developing nations call on Iraq to rid itself of weapons of mass destruction, while expressing "grave concern" over U-S threats to use force against Baghdad. Their document will be presented to the heads of states at the summit on Monday.
- MALAYSIA/N-A-M VOA 22 Feb 2003 -- Non-Arab ministers at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Malaysia are hoping for a communiqué demanding that Baghdad surrender any weapons of mass destruction, while Arab delegates are lobbying for a more softly-worded resolution. But the delegates are apparently united in a condemnation of U-S plans to attack Iraq.
