- 3rd ID deploying all brigades to Kuwait Amry News Service 03 Jan 2003-- The entire 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) has received deployment orders to Kuwait to join division command and control elements and it's 2nd Brigade, which finished a live-fire exercise in the desert just before the holidays.
- Air Force prepares for major deployment AFPN 03 Jan 2003-- Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld directed the deployment of additional forces to support operations Enduring Freedom, Desert Spring and possible future contingencies Dec. 24.
