Notes:
-
Approximately 21 million people live in Iraq, with one quarter of the population living in the Baghdad area. Notice that the Shia Muslims greatly outnumber the Sunni Muslims. Saddam and the ruling Baath Party are Sunni Muslims. *The Shia Muslims are what you may view as the "extreme" Islamics, believing that laws and society follow the strict guidelines of the Koran.
-
Kurds: 4 million displaced Kurds. No allies (Turkey/Iraq/Iran). Minority/underclass people
-
- forced to say north of green line division by iraqi army
-
- huge humitarian issue if we were to go in
-
(8 million civilians scattered south of baghdad)
