Tracking Inspections: 3 DECEMBER 2002
A team of 18 UN Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) and five International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors visited the Al-Sujud Palace and nearby Al-Sajdah Hall, according to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. Once inside the palace complex, inspectors divided into six groups, visiting all buildings and facilities there. They also checked for radiation at the site. The ministry criticized the inspection of this site, noting that inspectors could not have considered it a serious threat since they did not wear protective clothing. "The coming days will reveal whether they will abide by their impartial international nature or yield to U.S. and British pressure and blackmail, and thus turn into a relaying medium and spying eye seeking goals and purposes not outlined in the Security Council resolutions," the ministry stated. UNMOVIC/IAEA did not release a press statement detailing 3 December inspections.
