COALITION FORCES CONTINUE LEAFLET DROPS TO STOP IRAQI AGGRESSION

MACDILL AFB, FL - Operation SOUTHERN WATCH aircraft dropped 120,000 leaflets at about 3:15 p.m. EDT today around the town of Ar Rumaythah, approximately 100 miles southeast of Baghdad in Southern Iraq. The leaflet drop, the fourth within the last eight weeks, urges Iraqi military not to engage Coalition aircraft to protect aircrews, while also communicating the consequences of Iraqi military actions directly with the local civilian populace.

The 3 inch by 6 inch flyers, written in Arabic, were dropped in one section of the town by two fiberglass "leaflet bombs" that contain 60,000 leaflets each. The bombs exploded over the target areas and drifted to the ground.

Previous leaflet drops have taken place October 3 near Tallil, October 27 near Al Basrah and As Samawah, and Nov 8 around the town of Al Amarah.
