INTRO: In what may be a signal of how Iraq will respond to the U-N Security Council resolution, Saddam Hussein's son has urged the Iraqi parliament to agree to the disarmament resolution, with some limitations. VOA's Greg LaMotte has the story from our Middle East bureau in Cairo.

TEXT: Saddam Hussein's eldest son Uday told the Iraqi parliament Tuesday Iraq has to accept the U-N Security Council resolution. He said the parliament should do so without restrictions, but with what he called certain limits and procedures. It was not immediately clear what those requirements would be, or whether they would be acceptable to the Security Council.

But Uday Hussein did say the resolution should be implemented under what he called the umbrella of the Arab League, and that there should be Arab experts and monitors on the U-N inspection team.

He also said Iraq must still be prepared for war.

The comments were made in a letter distributed to the 250-member parliament meeting in emergency session. The body is expected to vote today on whether to recommend that President Saddam Hussein accept the U-N resolution.

Several Iraqi legislators have called on the parliament to reject the resolution, but they also say they will support whatever decision President Saddam makes. (Signed)
