INTRO: Iraq says it will consider the latest U-N Security Council resolution on disarmament -- even though it says the resolution is unfair. Tetiana Anderson reports from Cairo.

TEXT: The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Naji Sabri, says his country will study the resolution carefully and then will take what he calls an appropriate position. Mr. Sabri is in Cairo on an official visit.

In Baghdad, the first official response came Saturday from the Iraqi News Agency. It issued a brief statement calling the resolution "bad and unjust."

Iraqi state-run newspapers reported the news of the new resolution Saturday but did not indicate whether it will receive compliance from the country's government.

The newspaper Bebel, owned by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's son, reported Iraq will not give the United States any excuse for attack and added that the country has nothing to hide.

Foreign Minister Sabri told reporters in Cairo he was pleased that the international community had in his words foiled the United States' attempt to use the Security Council as a cover for aggression against Iraq. (signed)
