Good Consultations with France, Russia on Iraq, Powell Says
(At stakeout following meeting with French Defense Minister) (140) After his meeting at the State Department October 16 with French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie, Secretary of State Colin Powell declined to say whether or not progress has been made in negotiations over a U.N. resolution on Iraq. He did, however, characterize consultations on the resolution as "good." SECRETARY POWELL: Thank you all very much. QUESTION: Did you make any progress on a resolution? QUESTION: How is the resolution? What's the status of the resolution? SECRETARY POWELL: We're having good consultations. We're having good consultations. I've talked to my French colleague, my Russian colleague, the French Minister of Defense, so we're hard at work.
