Powell Pleased with European Reaction to Bush UNGA Speech
(Sept. 13, New York: remarks after meeting with EU Ministers) (150) After meeting with EU ministers in New York September 13, Secretary of State Colin Powell said that he was "pleased with the reaction so far" to President Bush's speech to the UN General Assembly on Iraq. Powell After His Meeting with EU Ministers September 13, 2002 United Nations New York, New York (12:35 p.m. EDT) SECRETARY POWELL: I'm very pleased with the conversations that we just had with my colleagues in the European Union. We discussed a number of issues. Of course, we discussed the President's speech and I am pleased with the reaction so far. We also had a good discussion with respect to the International Criminal Court and Article 98, and we're working in a spirit of cooperation to see if we can find a way forward.
