- COALITION AIRCRAFT STRIKE INTEGRATED AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM May 30, 2002 -- In response to recent hostile Iraqi acts against Coalition aircraft monitoring the Southern No-Fly Zone, aircraft from Operation SOUTHERN WATCH used Precision-guided weapons today to strike components of an offensive radar system in southern Iraq at approximately 6:20 p.m. EDT today.
- ONW aircraft fired upon, Coalition responds May 28, 2002 -- Iraqi forces threatened Operation Northern Watch (ONW) coalition aircraft today. Iraqi forces fired anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) from a site in the vicinity of Saddam Dam while ONW aircraft conducted routine enforcement of the Northern No-Fly Zone.
- Identical letters dated 27 May 2002 from the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and to the President of the Security Council Iraqi Government 27 May 2002-- On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith a letter dated 27 May 2002 from Mr. Naji Sabri, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq. The Minister calls attention to the ongoing wanton aggression against Iraq by United States and British aircraft in the unlawful no-flight zones and to the fact that in the period from 16 April to 16 May 2002 they carried out 844 armed sorties, 52 of them from Saudi Arabia, 656 from Kuwait and 136 from Turkey, as shown in the statement enclosed with the letter. On 19 April and 1 May 2002, United States and British aircraft bombed civilian and military sites in Ninawa Governorate, killing one citizen and wounding five others and damaging a number of civilian and military installations.

- COALITION AIRCRAFT STRIKE INTEGRATED AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM May 24, 2002 -- In response to recent Iraqi hostile acts against Coalition aircraft monitoring the Southern No-Fly Zone, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to strike three components of an offensive integrated air defense system in southern Iraq at approximately 3:50 p.m. EDT today. This was the fourth verified attempt by Iraq to destroy a Coalition aircraft in the last 17 days.
- COALITION FORCES STRIKE TWO IRAQI ANTI-AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS May 22, 2002 -- Iraqi air defenses again fired upon Coalition aircraft at approximately 3:15 p.m. EDT today. (...) In response, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons to strike an offensive aircraft and missile control center in southern Iraq at approximately 5:15 p.m. EDT. Coalition aircraft also struck an anti-aircraft missile system south of the 32nd parallel at approximately 5:15 p.m. EDT.
- COALITION FORCES STRIKE AIRCRAFT DETECTION SITE IN IRAQ May 20, 2002 --Yesterday, Iraqi air defenses targeted Coalition aircraft at approximately 4:30 p.m. EDT. This was the second attempt to destroy a Coalition aircraft within the last 12 days. In response, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft, monitoring the Southern No-Fly Zone, used precision-guided weapons to strike an aircraft direction-finding site in southern Iraq at approximately 6:30 pm EDT.
- Letter dated 19 May 2002 from the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General Iraqi Government 19 May 2002-- Further to our earlier letters to you concerning acts of piracy and provocation committed by the United States naval forces based in the Arabian Gulf against the wishes of the peoples of the region, I should like to inform you that such forces are continuing to engage in hostile action against vessels carrying civilian merchandise in Iraqi territorial waters and elsewhere. Intrusive United States naval patrols are intercepting these vessels and assaulting and questioning their crews. They sometimes detain vessels and crews for long periods of time, and they have in the past gone so far as to sink some of them. I present to you hereunder some examples of these practices.

- Letter dated 16 May 2002 from the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General Iraqi Government 16 May 2002-- On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith a letter dated 15 May 2002 from Mr. Naji Sabri, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iraq. Appended to the Minister's letter is a table showing the violations of Iraq's international boundaries that were committed by United States and British warplanes flying across the demilitarized zone monitored by the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) in the period from 6 April and 3 May 2002.
