- Tracking the Inspections 27 December 2002 RFE/L 27 Dec 2002 -- A reported 49 Inspectors visited two sites on 27 December.
- COALITION FORCES TARGET IRAQI MILITARY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS 27 Dec 2002 -- In response to Iraqi acts against Coalition aircraft monitoring compliance of United Nations Security Council Resolutions over Southern Iraq, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to target an Iraqi military air defense command and control system which supported highly mobile surface-to-air (SAM) missile systems. The system was located near Al Kut, approximately 95 miles southeast of Baghdad. The strike occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. EST

- EDITORIAL: IRAQ MUST DISARM VOA 27 Dec 2002 -- United Nations Security Council Resolution fourteen forty-one requires Iraq to disarm itself of weapons of mass destruction and disclose all aspects of its nuclear, chemical, biological, and missile programs. But Iraq submitted a declaration that fails to meet the U-N requirements. Iraq provided a catalogue of recycled information and flagrant omissions. U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said, "We are disappointed but not deceived. This declaration is consistent with the Iraqi regime's past practices."
