  • Second Iraqi Letter to the United Nations in Response to UN Security Council Resolution 1441 23 Nov 2002 -- "Your Excellency, this letter is connected with my letter dated 13 November 2002, in which I informed you that the Government of the Republic of Iraq had decided to deal with UN Security Council Resolution 1441 (2002) despite the bad provisions of the resolution. I would like to present our observations on the resolution's provisions, claims and measures that contravene international law, the UN Charter, relevant UN resolutions, and UN documents related to the issue of inspection and monitoring in Iraq"
  • COALITION FORCES TARGET IRAQI MOBILE RADAR SYSTEM 23 Nov 2002 -- In response to Iraqi hostile threats against Coalition aircraft monitoring the Southern No-Fly Zone, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to target a mobile radar system located south of Al Amarah. Al Amarah is approximately 165 miles southeast of Baghdad. The strike occurred at approximately 6 a.m. EST
  • RUSSIA/IRAQ VOA 23 Nov 2002 -- Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov says forcing Iraq to disarm will not solve the problem of global terrorism. Mr. Ivanov's comments come one day after the U-S and Russian presidents issued a joint statement urging Iraq to fully comply with its disarmament obligations or face serious consequences
  • BUSH/IRAQ VOA 23 Nov 2002 -- President Bush says the new democracies of Europe understand the threat posed by Iraq. Mr. Bush says they bring -- in his words a "moral clarity" to NATO
  • Joint U.S.-Russia Statement on Iraq Washington File 23 Nov 2002-- In a joint statement issued on November 22, 2002, the United States and Russia pledged full support for Iraq's complete and immediate compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1441, which calls for elimination of all weapons of mass destruction.
