- IRAQ / RESOLUTION VOA 28 Oct 2002-- The chief U-N weapons inspector Hans Blix says the threat of "serious consequences" for Iraq's failure to cooperate with inspectors would make the U-N job easier. Mr. Blix and Mohammed ElBaradei, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, expressed their views in a meeting with the Security Council Monday, as the U-N body began critical negotiations on a controversial U-S draft resolution.
- BUSH / IRAQ VOA 28 Oct 2002-- The Bush Administration says the United Nations has debated long enough on a resolution forcing Iraq to give up weapons of mass destruction
- PENTAGON/IRAQ VOA 28 Oct 2002-- Coalition aircraft have dropped tens-of-thousands of new leaflets over southern Iraq, in a fresh attempt to dissuade Iraqi gunners from firing on patrolling U-S and British planes.
- COALITION FORCES DROP LEAFLETS ON IRAQI CITIES 28 Oct 2002-- In response to recent Iraqi violations of United Nations Security Council Resolutions, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH aircraft dropped leaflets on two Iraqi towns on 27 October at approximately 3:45 am EST. Leaflets were dropped over As Samawah and Al Basrah in Southern Iraq to enhance force protection of Coalition aircrews.

- U.S. Not a 'Go-it-alone' Nation, Deputy Says AFPS 28 Oct 2002-- Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz tried to put some of the fears of American unilateralism to rest, saying, "We are not a go-it-alone country. This is not a go-it-alone president. We value the help we receive from others and depend on it crucially."
