Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. The Qatari Foreign Minister conveyed a verbal message from the Prince of Qatar pertaining the current Arab situations, foremost the US threats against Iraq. The message also included the Prince's greetings and salutes to His Excellency President Saddam Hussein. President Saddam Hussein said that Iraq has met all its commitments to the United Nations resolutions, accusing the UN of failing to do the same. "Iraq has met all the commitments imposed on it by the UN Security Council, but the Council has failed to fulfill the commitments stipulated in its own resolutions, especially the respect of Iraq's sovereignty and the lifting of the unjust sanctions," President Saddam Hussein said during his meeting with visiting Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani. The President also slammed the US war threats on Iraq, saying it is a plan not only aimed at Iraq, but the whole Arab world. For his part, Al-Thani said all Arab countries, including Qatar, are opposed to any attack on Iraq. Present at the audience were Deputy Premier Tareq Aziz, member of the Revolution Command Council Lieut. Gen. Ali Hassan Al-Majeed, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Acting Foreign Minister Dr. Humam Abdul Khaliq and Director of Arab Department at the Qatari Foreign Ministry. |
