I. IRAQI LEADERSHIP REJECTS UNSC COMMITTEES, IRAQ RADIO, JAN 31 II. SADDAM OFFERS BOUNTY FOR US/UK PLANES, PILOTS, AFP, FEB 1 I. IRAQI LEADERSHIP REJECTS UNSC COMMITTEES Baghdad Republic of Iraq Radio Network in Arabic 1130 GMT 31 Jan 99 [FBIS Translated Text] His Excellency leader President Saddam Husayn, may God watch over him, has chaired a meeting attended by a number of officials. The meeting discussed the memorandum issued by the president of the Security Council Saturday evening, 30 January, 1999, regarding Iraq. After the end of the meeting, an authorized spokesman made the following statement: The Security Council's formation of three committees on Iraq, whose work will last several months, means only procrastination and maintaining the unjust embargo on Iraq. Iraq demands that that aggression be condemned and stopped and that its sovereignty and national security be respected. It also demands abstention from interfering in its internal affairs, and lifting the blockade on it immediately and without any conditions. All the Security Council's permanent members should respect the UN Charter and implement the international law fairly and without discrimination. This includes issues related to security and stability in the region and weapons of mass destruction. The spokesman added: Iraq was not consulted over the formation of these committees. Thus, this measure does not concern us at all. The meeting was attended by 'Izzat Ibrahim, vice chairman of the Revolution Command Council; Vice President Taha Yasin Ramadan; 'Ali Hasan al-Majid, member of the Revolution Command Council; Muhammad Hamzah, member of the Revolution Command Council; Dr. Sa'dun Hammadi, speaker of the National Assembly; Foreign Minister Muhammad Sa'id al-Sahhaf; and Information and Culture Minister Humam 'Abd-al-Khaliq.
