- U.S. forces again strike Iraqi missile site (AFPN) 30 Dec 1998 - For the second time in three days, coalition air forces came under attack Dec. 30 and returned fire against a missile site in Iraq. The latest incident, this one over southern Iraq, occurred at about 1:30 a.m. EST, 9:30 a.m. local time, near the town of Talil. The strikes were in response to Iraqi surface-to-air missiles launched at coalition aircraft patrolling the southern no-fly zone.
- PENTAGON SAYS US EXCHANGED FIRE OVER SOUTHERN NO-FLY ZONE TODAY USIA 30 December 1998 -- A Pentagon spokesman said US fighter jets fired missiles and laser-guided bombs on an Iraqi missile site early December 30 after a British aircraft observed something fired from the site near Talil in southern Iraq.
- US RESTATES DETERMINATION TO ENFORCE NO FLY ZONES IN IRAQ USIA 30 December 1998 -- "Allied aircraft will continue to enforce the no-fly zones both in north and south Iraq," David Leavy, spokesman for the National Security Council said December 30 following the same day anti-aircraft firing at allied aircraft on routine patrol in the southern no-flyzone of Iraq.
