     ARABIAN GULF (NWSA) -- USS Carney (DDG 64) is
completing its second month on station in the Arabian Gulf
serving as a primary Tomahawk Missile platform.
     Carney strike team members stand watches around he
clock planning, preparing and training. Crew members have
participated in six Tomahawk Missile exercises since
arriving in the Gulf region.
     "It's very exciting," said Fire Controlman 2nd Class
Michael Zitek from San Bernadino, Calif. "We are working
hard to support national policy during this, my first
cruise."
     Carney, homeported in Mayport, Fla., is deployed
with the USS George Washington (CVN 73) Battle Group.
