IRAQ MUST COMPLY WITH THE WILL OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
"The meeting of the foreign ministers last night in Geneva strongly
reaffirmed our unanimous position," on Iraq, President Clinton said in
the early morning of November 20, in his first comment following the
overnight meeting in Geneva of the foreign ministers of the United
States, Russia, France, Britain and China.
"Saddam Hussein must comply unconditionally with the will of the
international community and allow all the weapons inspectors back in
Iraq so they get on with the job without interference," Clinton said.
"After that (the Geneva meeting) he said he would do that," Clinton
said. "In coming days we will wait and see that he does in fact comply
with the will of the international community."
Clinton made his remarks on Iraq at a breakfast meeting in the State
Dining Room of the White House with religious leaders. "I just want to
reiterate," he said, "that the United States must remain and will
remain resolute in our determination to prevent him from threatening
his neighbors and the world with nuclear, chemical and biological
weapons. This is an issue that I hope will become even more important
to all Americans and a greater subject of discussion. We must do this.
That is the duty we have to our children," Clinton said.
