Moscow, IRNA -- Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has condemned recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, adding that the threats by Trump against Iran, including potential missile strikes and bombings of its nuclear facilities, have raised serious concerns.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Zakharova said: "A Serious alarm is raised by regularly voiced threats directed toward Iran to carry out new rocket-bomb attacks on its nuclear facilities. These declarations cynically cloak themselves behind ostensible concerns about non-proliferation of nuclear weapons."
"Russia strongly condemns calls for using military strikes to resolve misunderstandings and contradictions regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear program," she pointed out.
Zakharova said Russia repeatedly warned against the harmful consequences of military adventurism, which jeopardizes stability and security in the Middle East.
"We cannot allow military strikes on nuclear sites guaranteed by the IAEA to become commonplace and a routine international practice. Attacks on these kinds of facilities cannot be ignored as they carry devastating risks," she noted.
Trump said earlier that if Tehran relaunched its nuclear program, Washington would quickly obliterate it.
