Lawmakers: No new talks with the U.S. until all preconditions met

Tehran, IRNA -- Iranian lawmakers have released a statement saying that no new round of talks with the United States should be held until Iran's preconditions are fully met, asserting that the diplomatic approach of the past is no longer acceptable given recent developments.

According to the statement read by Ahmad Naderi, a member of the Parliament's presiding board, during an open session, the lawmakers underlined that the red lines drawn by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei constitute the final word in the country's main strategies and policies.

Israel attacked Iran in an unprovoked act of aggression on June 13, assassinating military commanders and nuclear scientists in targeted strikes and killing civilians in air raids on residential areas. The war came amid ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington on Iran's civilian nuclear program.

"It is natural that when the United States uses negotiations as a cover for deception and enables the Israeli regime's surprise military assault, it is no longer possible to negotiate as before," the legislators read. "Preconditions must be set, and until they are completely fulfilled, no new talks should take place."

The statement strongly criticized the United States, saying President Donald Trump played a duplicitous role by publicly advocating diplomacy while secretly coordinating with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his 12-day war of aggression against Iran.

The Lawmakers went on to say that the U.S. provided full intelligence, military, and operational support to the Israeli regime throughout the war and ultimately signed off on an act of aggression by launching a symbolic strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"America's hostility toward the Iranian nation is not new," the statement added. "Let no one say we are provoking the U.S. It needs no provocation,it is, simply, an enemy."
