Moscow, IRNA -- The Collective Security Treaty Organization (C.S.T.O.) has condemned recent Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran, calling them a violation of the United Nations Charter and a threat to regional and global stability.
In a joint statement released after a meeting in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, C.S.T.O. foreign ministers condemned the attacks, saying such actions dangerously escalate tensions in the Middle East and undermine international legal norms, Russia's TASS news agency reported.
The foreign ministers expressed condolences to the families of victims, warning that any attack on civilian infrastructure - including nuclear energy facilities - was unacceptable and a serious breach of international law.
The statement said that these attacks increase the risks of destabilization across the region and could have devastating consequences for global peace and security.
The C.S.T.O. foreign ministers also stressed that military strikes on nuclear facilities under I.A.E.A. safeguards threaten the broader effort to establish a WMD-free zone in the Middle East.
The foreign ministers urged an end to coercive measures and refraining from further attacks on Iran's nuclear sites which have always been operating under the I.A.E.A. safeguards.
