At a press conference of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, a foreign media reporter asked about the statement made earlier that day by US President Donald Trump on social media, in which he said there was no intention to kill Iran's leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "for now." Trump also called for Iran to "unconditionally surrender" in his social media post. What is China's comment on this?

Responding to the question, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that China is deeply concerned about the current developments, while expressing grave apprehension. "We oppose any actions that violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and infringe upon the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of other countries. Further escalation of tensions in the Middle East does not serve the interests of any party," Guo said. He called on countries with special influence on Israel, in particular, to uphold an objective and fair stance, shoulder their due responsibilities, and play a positive and constructive role in de-escalating the situation and preventing the conflict from expanding.
