When asked about the progress of the Chinese government's organization of the safe evacuation of Chinese nationals in Iran and Israel, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that as of Wednesday, under the coordination of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassy and consulates in Iran, and with the active assistance and support of relevant neighboring countries, 791 Chinese nationals have been transferred from Iran to safe areas, and more than 1,000 others are being evacuated.
Guo said that Chinese embassies and consulates in neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have dispatched work teams to assist Chinese nationals in passing through border checkpoints at border ports, while providing help for their subsequent resettlement and return to China. Some Chinese nationals have been safely transferred from Israel.
"We express our gratitude to the relevant countries for their strong support and assistance," he said, adding that "our ministry and relevant embassies and consulates will continue to make all-out efforts to assist Chinese nationals with evacuation."
