The commander of Iran Army Ground Force says the country has achieved self-sufficiency in production of critical aerospace parts, and managed to extend the range of air-launched missiles "sevenfold."
Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari made the remarks at an event celebrating the domestic manufacturing of more than 1,000 aerospace parts on Monday.
Heidari stressed that Iran has been able to "overcome the bottlenecks" in securing these parts.
He praised the Army Ground Force's Airborne Division (Havanirooz) as "one of the best in Southwest Asia."
"Today, we have managed to improve their operational capacity by deploying night vision systems."
Referring to the large number of helicopters in possession of the Airborne Division and the fact that they are all fully ready for combat operations, the senior commander said this is a testament to the fulfillment of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's guideline "of standing on our own feet."
"Today, all the helicopters of the Airborne Division are ready for combat and support," Heidari stated.
According to the commander, the Army Ground Force's Airborne Division has manufactured a considerably large number of sensitive and critical parts since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and prioritized the production in various areas, including helicopters, and efficiently handled bottlenecks in this area.
"Another testament to the competence of the Airborne Division is the production of hundreds and thousands of critical parts after the Islamic Revolution."
"A unit, which could only operate with the presence of foreign advisors before the revolution, began its self-sufficiency jihad under the directive of the founder of the Islamic Revolution," he said.
With the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the commander said, the force prioritized production in various fields, including all helicopters and flying systems, as well as handling bottlenecks in this area.
General Heidari said the Army Ground Force's Airborne Division plays a crucial role in the country's military operations and also contributes significantly to relief and rescue operations during natural disasters.
